General Description:
Astaxanthin can be used in aquaculture to meet animal’s need for coloration give that natural coloring pigments are unavailable in aqua farming systems. Astaxanthin 10% has been widely applied in livestock industry for its significant effect in coloration. Apart from that, astaxanthin can provide growth promotion and health care for shrimp and fish (Chien and Jeng 1992), especially significant effect on the survival and growth of fish larvae. Astaxanthin has high anti-oxidation capacity with stronger efficacy than Beta-Carotene in eliminating free radicals. It can stimulate immune response, facilitate antibody generation and enhance animal’s immunity, thus improving animal’s growth and reproduction, especially the reproductive rate of parent fish and the survival of fish larvae.
